Prison the only option for Castletown man who breached court orders

A PERSISTENT offender has run out of chances and been jailed for six months.
The court at Wick and social workers have been forced to conclude there was nothing more they could do for Mark Macleod, 30, and that a custodial sentence was the only option left.
Macleod, of 12 Churchill Road, Castletown, admitted breaching bail conditions and threatening or abusive behaviour. The conditions relate to non-compliance with conditions banning him from entering St Peter's Road, in Thurso and contacting a woman there.
Solicitor, Neil Wilson said that the accused presented as someone who did best when sober and went on: "He is intelligent enough to realise the difficult he has placed himself in and that he has made a mess of things. He knows he has to address his problems but has to accept that those trying to help him have had to finally give up."
Sheriff Andrew Berry said there had been "a great deal of perservance" by the social work department in trying to administer Macleod's community pay back order.
