Don't you just get on them and ride away from the shop on it? Changed days, my first bike was a Honda 250.... the guy in the shop said "1 up 5 down" showed me how to operate the clutch and I was out of there riding all the way home in first gear  Soon got the knack of it tho.

You have to pass a cbt test first before you can ride a moped, david bremner does them in wick, you start at the north school and then you go round the streets, it's an all day thing.
