Dounreay steel worker could face his first prison sentence

A FALKIRK steel fixer working in the far north, has been caught drinks driving and could face a jail sentence.
Scott Stirling, 44, admitted the offence along with two further charges, attempting to pervert the course of justice and driving without insurance.
Stirling, who appeared from custody, at Wick Sheriff Court, today, was stopped by police in Thurso, on Saturday, and was apprehended after running away. A breath test revealed a reading of 69 microgrammes - almost twice the legal limit of 35mgs.
The accused is currently working at Dounreay and lives temporarily at 10 Angus Court, Thurso.
He was granted bail and will return to court on June 13 when Sheriff Andrew Berry will see a background report and hear details of the offences before passing sentence.
Stirling, whose home address is 23 High Street, Slamannan, Falkirk, is subject to an interim driving ban, meantime.
The sheriff observed that the accused had a record of 24 previous convictions none of which had attracted a prison sentence and warned him: "That might well change."
