Swallows

Can anyone tell me how In 2012 32 nests were used by 64 swallows In and around various farm buildings, with over 150 flying off In September and October that year, not one Swallow returned in 2013 and still waiting now in 2014 for some birds to return. Never in twenty plus years have I known this ?

Not sure abut their nests but here in Melvich we saw twoso far around our house yesterday and today.
We also saw quite a few last year

Last year seemed to be a very bad one, where I was used to counting 12 or more Swallow nests there were 2. Seem to be a few more about this year but not seeing the House Martins that have nested with us these last few years.
