Picasa 3 freezing

Trying to run Picasa 3 on a new PC running Windows 7 professional. When I hit "Import" the programme freezes and I have to restart the PC. Does this with or without camera connected. Any ideas? My existing photo folders which were transferred from the old PC are visible and accessible.

Have you tried updating to the latest 3.9 version (http://picasa.google.com/)? Also, if you are by any chance using a Dell-branded printer/all-in-one device you might want to read this thread (https://productforums.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!category-topic/picasa/picasa-for-windows/F5BshA2d9VU) - especially if Windows 7 automatically installed it's own driver, rather than using the Dell specific one from their website.
