DOUNREAY police officers have been accused of putting lives at risk by driving through Thurso town centre at more than double the speed limit. The Civil Nuclear Constabulary yesterday confirmed its officers have this week been undergoing driver response training in vehicles with their emergency lights flashing. A spokesman insisted the programme is carried out in “a safe and controlled” manner. (From John O Groat Journal)
I thought Dounreay Police had 6 Mile Limit from Dounreay, or are they now authorized to go any where now ?

Just a hunch but I reckon they have the relevant authority to do so

Civil Nuclear Constabulary officers have the powers and privileges of a Police Scotland constable anywhere within 5 kilometres of the limits of a “nuclear site” as the "crow flies" and will always be armed

But if escorting nuclear loads they have the same powers wherever the escort is going be that Scrabster harbour, rail head or lands end
