Thanks Rheghead, great seeing that, I was born in '59, seems like another world entirely! Does anyone know what boat was in the harbour?

John Waters was the young Thurso loon who was dragged into an alley and beaten unconscious by two Thurso cops in 1959. It caused a national scandal and I believe led to social and legal changes. Thurso police became infamous for a time.

Great link, thanks Rheghead :)

I'm amazed that - 55 years on - most of the locations and streets are still very recognisable.

Very interesting read, I belive the police involved got away with it ? Actually I knew one involved, as did a lot of people in Wick.

There used to be an Orger with significant knowledge of the events of 1959. Was it gleeber or the late gleber2?
