I have a dead relative who is an MBE awardee, however, I don't know much about how he got it or what it was for. Does anyone know if there is a website where I can search records of this type? I've searched on Google but to no avail. Sorry if admin think this should have been posted in Genealogy but I wasn't sure.

You could get crayola to get her mate to ask your relative on the net. :confused

Or failing that, I think there is a London Gazette website where you can look up recipients of 20th century MBEs.

Maybe worth a try? :confused

Have you tried putting your relatives name into Google followed by MBE (ie: Bob Smith MBE) something may come up that way?

Try this -

http://www.honours.gov.uk/faqs.aspx

and scroll down until you get to this -

Why/when did my relative/neighbour/friend/enemy get an award?

which takes you to the three Gazette sites, which is where (as Angela says) you will hopefully find what you want (maybe) :)
