File sharing over WIFI?

Is it possible to transfer files that are stored on a laptop to a tablet via the wifi without a cable? If so how?

If it is an andriod tablet, install an app called ES File Explorer, this will allow you to connect to a network share on a laptop and copy the files across.

Two easy methods depending on how big & how many files you're talking about - you could just email them to yourself if small quantity, or install Dropbox on both devices & do it that way if a fair bit.
