Solicitor to investigate accusation teen didn't abide by unpaid work order
A TEENAGER, who flushed three of a school's goldfish down its toilet, has been accused of defaulting on an unpaid community service order.
Kevan Fraser appeared at Wick Sheriff Court earlier this week when the case was continued to allow his solicitor to investigate matters.
The 18-year-old entered Lybster primary school at a weekend just over a year ago, gaining access through an insecure window and disposed of the fish after removing them from a tank.
He admitted a charge of theft and was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid community work under supervision. The offence was aggravated by the fact that Fraser, of 52 Glamis Road, Wick was subject to a bail order at the time.
Sheriff Andrew Berry described it as "one of the most miserable crimes" he had every encountered and told Fraser, of 52 Glamis Road, Wick, that it had been "a singularly unpleasant and unnecessary thing to do."
When he appeared this week, the court heard an allegation that he had breached the terms of the unpaid community service order.
His solicitor, Fiona MacDonald requested a three-weeks continuation without plea to allow her to look into the matter.
Fraser, who was said to have committed the goldfish theft because he was "bored" will reappear for sentence on February 21.
