I have a wood burning stove that has a crack in the cast iron top... it needs stopping before it becomes 2 separate pieces...
Does anyone know of someone who could tackle it?

Thank you in advance...

I'm afraid I don't have suitable equipment to help, but for now try to get someone to drill a small hole (4 or 5 mm in diameter should be fine) right at the end of the crack in order to hopefully stop it spreading further.

You then need someone who can weld the cast, generally when I was still in the trade we always did cast welding with a "stick welder" (traditional arc welder) and welding rods suitable for cast iron.

Things might have moved on, but that would have been the normal method in the past. So any traditional welder chap with arc welder and the right sticks should be able to sort it out for you. Hope you get it sorted.
