Does anyone know if the council still collect used Christmas trees

According to their website (http://www.highland.gov.uk/yourenvironment/wastemanagement/wasteawareness/christmas.htm) it doesn't look like it - it says to take your real trees to the nearest recycling centre for disposal in the Garden Waste skip...

waste of perfectly good trees. why did nt you all just leave them in the ground in the first instance,

I think when the powers that be are ripping up whole forests for no good reason I can see, the fate of the odd little seedling isn't very significant.

Chop them up for kindling. Leave to season outside for a few months first as required. When you come to light the fire with it, it will also maybe make you think twice about having a tree with lights strung about on it next year - Go up like a molotov cocktail so they do! The bits are great for getting the fire going though!

Highland Council do apparently....

Brown bins are cancelled until March but the lorry is going around collecting any christmas trees that are left out, so just leave the tree beside your bin and they'll collect if for recycling.
