A THURSO woman has told of her shock at hearing an enormous crash, looking out her living room window and seeing a large chunk of felt from Thurso High School’s roof, stuck in her garden trees. Rosemary Logie’s house in Ormlie Road sits directly opposite the school and on Christmas Eve, the strong winds finally took their toll.
WICK is set to benefit from a plan to reorganise a number of historic small trusts which are currently being administered by Highland Council. The town has a total of just over £48,000 in various charitable funds – the largest figure in the local authority area.
FEARS that a planned, 277-turbine offshore winds farm, potentially worth millions to the Caithness economy may be in danger of being scrapped, have been dismissed as speculation by supporters.

MIXED messages coming from the Scottish Government about commercial pharmacies are “wholly unacceptable” to the people of Castletown and Canisbay who are “right to feel aggrieved at their situation.” That is the view of Highlands and Islands MSP Rhoda Grant who criticised Scottish Health Secretary Alex Neil over his handling of the matter. She and fellow Labour MSP, David Stewart, have been in dialogue with the minister regarding pharmacy applications, since August.
