What a disgrace, our leader will not disclose how the money was spent

I think Eck the Hutt is actually doing a decent job in promoting Scotland and bringing investment into the country. We all know the Telegraph is a pro-unionist rag anyway, it will print everything it can to try and bring down the independence campaign whilst promoting the "better together" campaign at every opportunity. Besides, It's relatively small change considering what Cameron and his cronies spent on "expenses" such as gourmet food, expensive champers, 2nd homes, Duck house, Central heating for stables etc etc which brought NOTHING to the country whatsoever (other than ridicule).

Regardless of which newspaper reported this, why should we pay for his tartan trews as well as his bed and board, and why will the Scottish Government, try to keep these expenses out of the public eye?

for exacty the same reason that the current govt in England spend willy-nilly and try to hide it too. They have spent, no wasted, far more than Eck could ever imagine and the govt try to keep that secret too!. It's a no win situation, there will always be dirt dug up on Eck to try and discredit him. Ask yourself why the rest of the UK are so, so desperate to keep Scotland in it?

I think the point is he Mr Salmond is purporting to be about a fairer more democratic Scotland, so it doesn't bode well when he is seen to be no better than the system he is wanting to replace
