Anyone know why the power has been off and on in Caithness tonight?

The power was out at keiss and beyond last night there was sparks like lightening coming from the pole down the road scary!!

That would be what was causing the problem, its not so bad when the power goes off and stays off for a while, but last night it went on and off at least a dozen times.

I always suspect an incomplete circuit somewhere, when this happens.

If it is icy with salt spray you get a lot of flashes from power cables, hydro come to investigate and reassure users that the cables and poles are not going on fire.
Salt spray which gets blown onto power lines and freezes is quite spectacular but does not usually cause problems.
Hope your power is back on again - was it the usual bird strikes?
