Big Chief was actually written by The Meters. Meters' keyboard player, Art Neville "sold" the song to Dr. John. (Or so Art told me a couple years back.) But if you like BG, I suggest you get a hold of Desitively Bonaroo, a Dr. John album with The Meters as his backing band. In fact, check out any Meters song ever: real 2nd line funk at its best.
