I see a few people advertising for garden services here. Has the mod changed his stance? Seems these people are getting some responses-well done!

I know this has nothing to do with your thread David , but I have been trying for some time to send you a Pm , unfortunately your mail box is full and won't accept anymore. Flora

Offering a service isn't the same as asking for a job - I think that is the difference.

I believe the org is sympathetic to people trying to earn a crust in these difficult times.

Perhaps I can clarify ...

We do allow any type of business to advertise in the business section of the forum although few actually put items in there - see http://forum.caithness.org/forumdisplay.php?93-Business

T (http://forum.caithness.org/forumdisplay.php?93-Business)he Job ads section is for any business or employer to offer a position for people to apply for a job - http://forum.caithness.org/forumdisplay.php?22-Job-Vacancies
(http://forum.caithness.org/forumdisplay.php?22-Job-Vacancies)
From time to time individuals looking for work offer their serivces but we remove or block those as employers do not search for employees in that way and they clutter the board with no point. Employers want applications from the ads they place and it is doubtful if any prospective employers read or would reply to these requests.

Pantsman is correct in that we are sympathetic to the whole situation and offer these services via the forum free of charge on the one hand to make it easy for people to see job ads and on the other to make it the cheapest way for Caithness employers to advertise their positions and keep their costs to the minimum to help them reduce their costs.

We also offer any business new or old a free page in our business index www.caithness-business.co.uk where any Caithness business can add details of their services a photo and link to their web site if they have one. In the business pages we are also very receptive to offering free articles to new businesses and often established ones to show what they have to offer and mostly have not made any charge for that.

Can we do more - we are always open to suggestions.

It used to be quite good, but it was completely ruined when you started spamming it with NewsBot posts. I rarely look in there nowadays.

Have to agree, but tell the Job Centre that... If you're not hassling employers for a job they'll stop your money.
