is anyone else outside tonight braving the cold admiring saturn....

i have just been informed of the spectacle and getting wrapped up to take a good look.

You can't really tell much with the naked eye but with a decent telescope it looks amazing....

Happy Viewing....

What direction am i supposed to be looking in? I don't have a telescope, but I do have a rather decent set of binoculars.

Sig - any chance you could persuade your better half to take a photo & post it for us.

I just braved the cold outside here in Wick - kinda cloudy, but there's a definite rainbow effect around the outside edge of the full moon's glow - but it's from 5 o'clock to 11!

Gee Whiz Sig - do you know how cold it is here tonight? Ok - I adjusted my contact lenses & went outside for another look - the rainbow effect is all around the outside edge of the moon's glow now.

I'm not going to tell you what else I saw at the bottom of the moon itself - and it was definitely from 5 o'clock to 8.

Against my better judgement, Sig - I went & looked again. It's actually a lot clearer here now - not so much cloud - I actually spotted the bright light at 3 o'clock. The rainbow colours have disappeared - but I agree - it is a beautiful sight.

Less cloud cover means frost - no wonder I'm chilled to the bone!

Highlander - the pics are great. Thanks for that. It's a bright spring-like day here today- certainly a lot warmer than last night!

thanks for the pics highlander... just wish i was able to take a pic of it through the telescope and post it here... it was a beautiful sight.

Just for Info purposes, it will be around for the next week or so, it should be at its most prominent on the 10th as it will be relatively postioned opposite the sun.

I cant wait for the warmer weather to utilise the telescope a lot more... Does anyone know of anythng significant to watch out for over the warmer months this year?
