View Full Version : Why sell something you don't have?

Twice now I've tried ordering a car part online, first from http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Racedynamics2u & then from http://www.mister-auto.co.uk/.
On both occasions they've accepted my order & taken my money.... Both times a day or two later I've received a message back from them to inform me that they actually no longer have the part in stock & will be refunding my money (still waiting for both refunds)... Despite this both places still have the part for sale...
Are they taking the piss & the real reason is that they don't want to post to the Highlands... Good job the need isn't urgent, but it is still needed asap.

Can anybody recommend a good website for purchasing car parts that won't piss me about?

I do'nt know if this will help Alrock, but my partner tends to use - http://www.eurocarparts.com/. As far as I am aware, he has never had any problems with them.

Thanks... According to the website they have the part in stock, slightly more expensive but not too bad & they do say that they will deliver here for a small surcharge... So fingers crossed for 3rd time lucky.

It's not always cheaper or easier to shop on line, yesterday I needed an indicator for my bike and took the simple option of looking on line, but gave the bike shop in Wick a call to see what they could do. A very pleasant and helpful lady got it sorted without any fuss and although she said it may be a few days, it came today at a competitive price.

I like it when a plan comes together and I might even get a chance of a ride out while the weather is good.

Do'nt know if it has changed Alrock, but he has just said that he paid for delivery on his first order, but since then has not (I have just checked his last order to make sure this is right) paid for delivery.

I've used these guys and they were great, no fuss, fast delivery, don't think there was an extra charge either...

The one that was through eBay, you should definitely report for this nonsense.

another bunch of crooks who whacked a surcharge onto my order and send it via royal mail! Whilst I'm no lover of surcharges its a bit unfair to blame the supplier of your parts when the reality is, it's the delivery companies who place the surcharges on highland deliveries the companies unfortunately have to factor those additional costs in otherwise they will be loosing money. If its car parts you're after any major motor factor company will be able to supply the part you're after or you can buy direct from the manufacturer or a main dealer agent the issue of haulage charges is a separate issue.I'd like to see take the haulage firms by the horns and start getting these ridiculous charges dealt with. I fail to see how it costs more to deliver from Newcastle to Penzance than from Newcastle to Thurso. Yes you can argue conurbation sizes and population density are more but I'd argue that some places in Wales and the north of England are harder to get to but receive no surcharge.

I have no objection to surcharges as such and appreciate we are in a rural area but what i meant (and should have been clearer) was that the company told me there was a surcharge by their courier and the parts were delivered by the postie a couple of days later and NOT a courier. They had taken it to a post office themselves and the postage was less than the original quoted price, never mind the £7.95 surcharge on top. They lied to me so it was pure and utter fraud

I could be wrong as all companies work differently but you'll find companies normally call it P & P ie Postage and Packing this basically allows for the cost of postage and the cost of the packaging of your order so its a way of charging what they like without getting their collars felt for fraud !

Ahhh, motor bike shop. I obviously didn't pay enough attention to Kevin's post, as when he said bike shop, I thought he meant a push bike shop. Not quite sure why my brain completely ignored his mention of an 'Indicator.' :o
