Sheriff to get report on accused's medicinal use of drug
POLICE, who raided a house in Staxigoe discovered a minor cannabis growing operation.
Two plants and some small quantities of the Class B drug were recovered, Wick Sheriff Court was told yesterday.
The householder, James Gibson, 61, admitted producing the drug at his home at Elzy Farm Cottage, Staxigoe, on May 21, and being in possession of small quantities of it.
It was stated that the cannabis was for his own personal, medicinal
use. This was further explained in a lengthy letter to Sheriff Andrew Berry by the
accused who was not present in court.
The sheriff continued the case until September 6, for a background
report.
