Biro stains out of wool carpet

My young dog has just chewed a black biro and it has all gone over carpet - any ideas what to do to get it out please?

My inclination would be to use methylated spirits.

Looking it up the recommendation is Isopropyl Alcohol (aka 'rubbing alcohol'), then soapy water.

There are some very strong warnings online about what NOT to use, whih includes lighter fluid, petrol or carbon tetrachloride (the old dry cleaning solvent before they switched to 1,1,1, Tri-chloroethylene (Tip-Ex thinners)).

I seached on 'ballpoint stain carpet'.

We used milk on biro stains - more effective if the stain hasn't dried completely.

Re-arrange the furniture ;)

I've used "spray" hair-spray to get biro ink out of fabric - it may work on your carpet. The pump hair-sprays don't work tho.
