I always find if you dilute the stain with lots of water frequently, soaking up excess in between. Then I use 1001 carpet spray cleaner when the stain has almost disappeared.
Other than that.............new carpet!

If all else fails - The Insurance Company will replace it, its what we pay our premiums for.
I too had a similar problem, went through all the stain removal products then got the professionals in who failed to remove the stain. They suggested my insurance may replace it and sure enough 4 weeks later I had a lovely new carpet fitted.

This will probebly sound strange but you should try fabric conditioner,i tried that after a realised that my son had put paint on his carpet. It woz a couple of days so it was dry, used fabric conditioner and practically the whole lot came out.Give it a good scrub and it should work.:D

Although it conflicts with some of the advice given online, the best advice I ever received for stain removal is that any water used to remove stains shouldn't be hot, especially if you are unsure. There are many stains which are 'fixed' by heat (e.g. coffee).

The best thing to do with any stain is to very quickly dab (not rub) as much as humanly possible of the stain out of the carpet/fabric using lots of old towels, tissue or cloths before applying any sort of solvent (including soapy water).

Blackcurrant along with beetroot are natural dyes and amongst the hardest stains to remove so whatever you do, don't apply anything hot!

This pdf document from a New Zealand wool carpet manufacturer as a guide for hospitals recommends water first, then carpet cleaning liquid, then clothes washing powder (laundry detergent).

Alternatively, the advice here suggests that you should get as much out as possible before using anything then carpet shampoo if it's still wet, if dried then methylated spirits. Never heard of that but will bear in mind if I ever need it.

I've not used Oxi so I can't comment, it's certainly supposed to be for exactly this type of organic stain and a lot of people praise it, but this review doesn't think much of it for a blackcurrant stain on a carpet which is exactly what it was bought for.

Blackcurrant is such a difficult stain to get rid of completely that you want to get it right first time.
Very best of luck!

I had the carpet professionally cleaned to get out old blackcurrant juice stains (as well as other types of juice around the kids wee table) but they didn't shift. The cleaners told me that it was the same sort of stuff they use to dye carpets so nothing would remove it.

About a year later I was using the rug doctor machine we hired from Somerfield to clean the whole carpet, not really concentrating on the juice stains, but hey presto - they disappeared as if by magic!! It's a fantastic machine and left the carpet much cleaner than the professionals did. Good luck.
