I remember when the north wind would bring 5ft snow drifts......council gritters working like ants up and down the Wick-Thurso road then giving up cos the police sent everyone home and told us all to stay there.....snowball fights and a 4x4 dragging an occupied dingy round a snow-filled field (but that's another story...).......all a distant memory.....
Global warming has a lot to answer for....

That has happened during the last decade.

I also remember when the sun shone all through the summer and you could play out as a child all day everyday during the summer holidays. I can remember when the sun shone for so long that the Government had to appoint a Minister for Drought because of it. If I remember correctly his name was Howells.

Oh for those lovely long hot summers of years gone by.

I too remember very cold & snowy winters -my uncle drove a snowplough for Caithness County Council and he didn't always get home.
No mobile phones or any way of letting us know where he'd got stuck!:(
No central heating or fitted carpets either....getting out of bed was hard...maybe there was a downside to it after all!
A nice peat-fired Esse stove in the kitchen though...:Razz
