A CAITHNESS mother yesterday recalled "the very scary and very emotional" experience she encountered when here baby son was born 11 weeks early. Alison, who lives with her husband Jon and family in South Street, Keiss, spoke about the battle her son Alex had to survive. He weighed only three pounds when he was born at Raigmore Hospital Inverness and spent seven weeks in a special care baby unit.

THURSO Library could remain close until well into next year after structural damage uncovered, was more serious than first realised. In the meantime, the library is set to move to a temporary site in the town centre to provide a scaled-down service, while repairs are completed.

BUSES and parents allegedly parking outside, illegally, on yellow zig-zag lines, are putting the lives of pupils at risk. Thurso Community Council has received complaints from the public that up to three Stagecoach buses are being parked outside Miller Academy at any one time, while it is constructing its new depot nearby.

A WICK fighter is proving to be one of the most promising athletes in Highland amateur boxing after winning the top title at the Inverness Amateur Boxing Club Tournament. Liall Mackenzie was named boxer of the night when he won the first bout of his amateur career when he was part of the north of Scotland select team which took on north of Wales select at the Ironworks, on Saturday night.
