Force will also tackle drink and drug abuse
AN operation focusing on reducing violence across the Highlands and Islands will take place on Friday 12 April.
The day is the first in a series of regular Police Scotland designated "Campaign against Violence" days.
As part of the Police Scotland's Violence Reduction Strategy, additional and dedicated patrols, utilising all available officers, are scheduled throughout the year to focus on tackling all types of violence and anti-social behaviour.
The first Campaign Against Violence Day will be based on the initiative of Operation Respect and co-ordinated throughout the Highland and Islands Division.
Chief Inspector Colin Gough said: "The operation will focus extra resources and activity aimed at tackling vandalism, antisocial behaviour, alcohol abuse, drugs, violent crime and crimes of dishonesty, with the aim of making our communities safer.
"The operation will involve uniformed and plain clothed officers. There will be increased foot and mobile patrols across the area and enforcement of legislation in relation to drug abuse, alcohol related crime and littering. This will also involve licensed premises checks, bail checks and vehicle stops."
He added: "If anyone has any information relating to criminal activity they should contact police on 101. Information can also be given to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
The Highland and Islands Division of Police Scotland is one of eight Divisions undertaking a Campaign against Violence Day on 12 April.
