Hey people of Caithness... upon being bullied in spring cleaning I found this awesome Jar at my mothers place in Canisbay. Does anyone know the story of it?!? or have heard of his pottery before?!? if you could let me know that would be great :) hoping to move to Fiji on the proceeds or buy a round in the waterfront

The fact that the jar has survived so long is impressive indeed. It was made by a man called Thomas Tough in the Portobello pottery, Edinburgh, and he was bought out in 1867. You can see Thos Tough on the jar and Portobello.

It is awsome, I think it nearer worth a round than a holiday. Why don't you take it to the museum in Thurso and they may be able to give you a bit more of it's history. (I'm sure they would give it a good home too. :D).
