Just heard that the council broke a gas pipe at Milton which meant that Tesco had no gas and had to close. Anyone know if they are open again yet or when they will open again?

Another reason could be that the Tesco staff all ate beans last night and its got nothing to do with the Milton Gas Supply but another eco friendly venture by Tesco!

Looking out of my window just now and Tesco car park loks quite full with cars going in. All lights are on etc so they must be open.
The road was closed at Haster, where the gas leak is, for most of the day but i didn't dare say so!!!!!!

A lot of the staff were told that they were only at Tesco for the busy time till after new year.

This is normal Supermarket practice, Wal-Mart Asda last year asked their regular staff to take a weeks unpaid leave as Wal-Mart Asda had spent too much at the run up to Xmas, and a pal who wokrs for Sainsburys told me he was asked to do the same but refused.

Those "laid off" as you put it, have simply had their temporary contracts run to the end of their tenure and are not being kept on in the same capacity ( in some cases not at all) as no store on this planet can expect to run at the same sales targets as xmas time. All these folk were well aware of the position they were in before accepting the job.

Now that is FACT ;)

Glad someone has actually got it right!

And btw, Tesco's don't have mains gas or LPG.
