Recently we have been advertising our caravan for sale and have found out that its details have been copied and reproduced on other for sale websites (including the caravan clubs) at a ridiculously low price.
The scammers were asking people to deposit money in their account to secure the deal and promising to deliver the caravan.
Luckily some people who were nearly conned got in touch as they saw our genuine ad on Gumtree too and realised something was afoot. We cleared it up with them and saved them a great deal of heartache.
We have sold our van, to a nice guy from Inverness now, thank goodness, but it was a horrible feeling that we were unwittingly used in that way.
I just thought I'd post to remind people that there are some very unpleasant folk out there who care nothing about others and that if an ad looks too good to be true, it probably is.
