Warrant granted after accused fails to turn up
A SHERIFF granted an arrest warrant for a Wick man alleged to have shouted and swore at staff at Caithness General Hospital.
Ryan Gunn, 32, failed to appear at Wick Sheriff Court yesterday on a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour.
His solicitor, Neil Wilson said that he had tried unsuccessfully to get in touch with the accused.
David Barclay said Gunn, of Girnigoe Street, Wick, had made an appearance previously when bail was granted and added that he didn’t think there had been any confusion about his obligations including the next court date.
The senior fiscal said he would put a temporary hold on implementing the warrant pending further inquiries.
The case was continued without plea. The charge also accuses Gunn of making threats to making threats to nurse Gayle Green, at the hospital on November 16.
Fined and banned
UNEMPLOYED Jonathon Lewis-Smith was fined £200 and banned for a year, yesterday, after he admitted driving with excess alcohol.
Police initially stopped the 43-year-old in Traill Street, Castletown, late on December 7, last year, to advise him about his use of his headlights, but got a smell of alcohol, Wick Sheriff Court was told.
Subsequent tests revealed that Lewis-Smith, of Roadside, Barrock, had a blood-alcohol level of 128 milligrames. The limit is 80mgs.
Costly cannabis
A POLICE search of a Wick house produced a small quantity of cannabis.
The occupant, Michael Harper, 26, admitted possession of the drug and was fined£150. The raid on his home at 57 Henrietta Street, Wick, was carried out on November 1, last year.
The court heard that the cannabis was for the accused’s personal use.
