I had a petrol one which worked well but I gave it away/part exchanged to another orger. It also took a lot of room up in the shed.

My main log splitter now is the old fashioned axe type which I wield with immense power. However, on days when I'm feeling feeble then I get out a horizontal hand operated hydraulic splitter that has 10 tonnes of crushing power which works very well. I wouldn't use anything less than 10 tonnes as it would take a bit of umph to get the well knotted logs.

I can do more logs in less time with the axe type but the other uses much less effort.

I bought the log splitter on Ebay or Amazon but check Birons as they may have one.
