Nurse told resident to walk without her zimmer - she fell over

A CAITHNESS nurse who abused and mis-treated elderly residents at a county care home has been struck off, the BBC reports today.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council found that Rosalind Macintosh guilty of six charges of bullying residents at the Seaview House, in Wick, between 2008 and 2010.
A council panel heard that Macintosh grabbed care home residents by the neck, swore at them and refused to wash them. One patient who used a zimmer, fell over after Macintosh told her to walk without it.
Panel chair, Kevin Walter said they were satisfied that there had been “a consistent pattern of grossly inappropriate behaviour”, by Macintosh over a prolonged period of time. He said that she had shown no compassion or concern for the resident and their families and no remorse for her actions.
Macintosh who denied the claims, did not attend the hearing. The home operators, Barchester Health Care, dismissed her in September 2010. Her name has been removed from the nursing register.
Commenting on that, Mrs Macintosh claimed that the allegations were "a load of rubbish" and had ended her career making her a virtual recluse. She alleged there had been a witch-hunt against her and added that too much of a case had been put up against her, for her to fight it.
Her former employer, Barchester Health Care said they had dismissed Mrs Macintosh as a result of her actions and welcomed the Nursing and Midwifery Council's decision.
