Can you name the hit record from part of the lyrics? No cheating, now! :D I didn't do too well myself.
1: "The trainer of insects is crouched on his knees
and frantically looking for runaway fleas”
2: "The postman delivers the final reminders
She sells off her silver and poodles in china."
3: “Singing songs, and drinking wine
While your eyes played games with mine”
4: “Send me a postcard, drop me a line
stating point of view”
5: “At break of day when that man drove away I was waiting
I crossed the street to her house and she opened the door”
6: “Letters I've written,
never meaning to send.”
7: “He kicked like a mule and he bit like a crocodile.”
8: “What will your daddy do when he sees Your mama kissin' Santa Claus, Ah ah”
9: “He's got a fur lined sheepskin jacket
My ma said they cost a packet”
10: “Father wears his Sunday best
Mother's tired she needs a rest”

Well done Ballymore. We have a winner! :)
We tied Joxville. I got 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8. Can't believe I didn't get the Matt Monro one .... I really liked his singing and still do! Am I sad? :D
Would anyone like another starter for 10?

Decided to give you another lot anyway. :D Hope you enjoy them.
11: “Won't you sign up your name? We'd like to feel you're
acceptable, respectable, presentable, a vegetable”
12: “All I needed was the love you gave
All I needed for another day”
13: “Golden words he will pour in your ear
but his lies can't disguise what you fear”
14: “Gor blimey hello Mrs. Jones
How's old Bert's lumbago?”
15: “Take a look at the lawman
beating up the wrong guy
Oh, man
Wonder if he'll ever know”
16: “In my mind and in my car,
we can't rewind we've gone to far.”
17: “You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar
when I met you”
18: “These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you”
19: “So I lay upon my side
with all the windows open wide
Couldn't pressurize my head from speaking"
20: “And somebody grabbed me
threw me out of my chair
Said ‘before you can eat
You gotta dance like fred Astaire’ “
Not any better, I got 12, 14, 16, 17 and 18.

You're ahead of me Jox, but I'm working on it. I'm one of those irritating people who never sing the right words! "2, 5, 9 the duck drank wine, the monkey chewed tobacco on the tramcar lines." I may be back later! :)

It's amazing what you can google with copy and paste - I must confess I cheated :( (though I did get 4,5,7 &10 before googling!)

No matter Bally. You had the decency to own up and not do the same second time round, so I'll give you an extra bonus point. Good for you. x
You too are one ahead of me, but I'll plod on. :)

The only one that jumped out at me was No. 12, Lorne, because I thought the leader singer, Brian somebody, of the Flying Pickets, was very attractive! I really did. I also loved the song.

Must admit I preferred the Yazoo version, there was only a year or so between the 2 versions.

Thanks Lorne. I'd forgotten Yazoo also covered 'Only You.' It was another good version, but Alison Moyet wasn't as dark and menacing-looking as Brian!:D
