Is this a folly, a house, a flight of fancy ?

Was intrigued by this strange building on the track up to Olrig hill,does any one know it's history, have tried searching old maps and the history of the parish but have so far drawn a blank.
Any information would be much appreciated.

It's a great looking place. love that sort of house full of character. I love to imagine the life stories a house like that has seen in it's time.
