Some of you may remember that we tragically lost both our springers in a short space of time earlier this year. We said we weren't going to have another dog for at least a year to give ourselves time to heal - but a few weeks ago my husband said that not having a dog didn't seem to be helping it get any better, so maybe we should try learning to love a new one.

So we logged back on to the forum of the rescue we got Smokey and Red from and there, staring out at us with Smokey's eyes and Red's joie de vivre was a little black working cocker spaniel, just a year old and in rescue thanks to someone seeing the pictures of Prince William and Kate Middleton's dog and deciding that a wocker would be a suitable pet for a 6 year old in a city centre flat :confused We were lucky enough to be accepted as her forever home, we collected her at the weekend and we now have a tiny black tornado creating havoc and melting our hearts.

Unreal that anyone could do that to such a nice wee dog for the sake of a "royal" substitute!:~( Disgusting, but lucky for you.

What the hell is a wocker?:(

The breed rescues are starting to get over-run with them unfortunately as a direct result of those photos early in the year - the cute puppies are now 9 months to a year and if they don't get enough exercise they can get very destructive.

'Wocker' is shorthand for working cocker, sorry! Though the rescue's vet reckons her ears are wrong for a working cocker and thinks she's possibly a very small field spaniel or field x cocker cross.

She's the spitting image of my working cocker Cari, except she has shorter legs :D

They are fab pets for an active home, well done for rescuing her from a life of boredom and destruction.

You did the right thing, I lost my German Shepherd (Fog) in 1985, because it upset me so much, I decided not to get another dog, to save me going through that pain again. I now know I was wrong, I never gave myself the opportunity to move on as such. So I advise anybody now, if they lose their pet, to get another one, it will help with the healing process.

Jura is a beautiful little lady and I hope you have many years of happiness with her.
