Bardnaclavan is just champion in Texel competition

CAITHNESS breeders figured prominently in the Highland Texel Club’s annual flock competition.
D.N. Campbell and Sons of Bardnaclavan, Westfield, completed a hat-trick of wins in the contest having taken the top ticket in 2008 and 2010.
Their 30-ewe flock was established 11 years ago using Garngour females as foundation stock. The flock has scored several show successes, including sheep supreme at Sutherland in 2010, a breed championship at Caithness in 2009 and the sale champion at Dingwall and a reserve at Quoybrae.
The Texel competition results are
LARGE-1, Charles Ryrie, Kirk, Wick; 2, Ian Campbell, Todholes, Thurso; Philip Gill, Templands, Fortrose.
MEDIUM-1, J. Campbell; 2, S. and K. Sutherland, Sibmister, Thurso; 3, Douglas Webster, Reiss, Wick.
SMALL- I. Duncan Mackenzie, Newmore, Muir of Ord; 2, John Forbes, Boultach, Latheron.
