I have just had mine done, by Clarrion also, in fact the whole street was done, Edinburgh Council funded it, so cost us all nothing, even the non pensioners.

I had my loft insulation done by Carillion, about a month ago, but being a tenant with the council, I had a letter from them first to say Carillion were doing this and to contact them to make an appointment, which I did. If in doubt contact the Council.

thanx for replies and messages appears HC were given £530,000 by Scot Gov to provide insulation for highland homes and Carillion doing all surveys and work.

We had this guy and his wife round recently. Just waiting for the insulation to be put down in the loft. This is genuine, the only thing that was disturbing was the guy, who must be well into his sixties, wore a fleurescant blue thong, whoaaaagh! Spotted this as he bent down to pick up his drill. Image stayed with me for a few days, and has just come back, whoaaaagh!

There is no such thing as a free lunch, and the Scottish Government and Highland Council don't hand out freebies.
If you look at your latest fuel bill you will find that a significant part of the cost is for "Government Measures" or similar. The cost of these Govt measures is spread around all fuel bill payers. A bit like the Poll tax.
The insulation scheme actually results in some tangible benefits, unlike the Feed in Tariff scheme also funded through your bills which simply robs the poor to pay the rich. http://www.fitariffs.co.uk/
