Licensing board lift restriction by the narrowest of votes
FAR NORTH supporters of a move to abolish the so-called Cinderella curfew on late-night premises, were today toasting a Highland Council decision to scrap it – by a whisker!
It was only the single, casting vote of the licensing board convener, Maxine Smith that the restriction, imposed in 2003, was lifted.
The board had been split down the middle on the controversial issue.
The premises concerned, however, will have to wait until the board officially approve the alterations to their premises, at their next meeting in December... for the run-up to the festive season.
