A year for incident sheriff described as "disgusting"
A THURSO man, who spat at the police in what the sheriff described as a “disgusting” incident, was jailed for a year at Wick yesterday.
The incident occurred as Darren Cooper, of 25 Pennyland Drive, Thurso, was being led to a police car, near his home on October 11.
Two policemen who asked to speak to him were each spat on, Wick Sheriff Andrew Berry was told.
Cooper, 27, admitted an assault and breaching an early release from prison order and a record at an earlier appearance when he announced as he was being remanded in custody that he would not co-operate with social workers in the preparation of a background report.
