Mobile units to replace 3,000 axed post offices

Ministers will today try to defuse anger over the closure of thousands of rural post offices by announcing plans to send mobile services to country areas and establish part-time outlets in shops, pubs and even churches.

At a time when so much attention is being directed to reduction of pollution on roads, this seems like a U-turn.

I did see a Post Office Mobile Shop the other day - maybe there's more than one but I don't get out much to see.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the mobile services are quite unreliable. Which isn't much use for communities that rely on them.
