Police urge public to be on their guard
Northern Constabulary are advising motorists to be aware of an email scam that has been reported to them by a member of the public.
The email from cctv.enforcement@penaltychargenotice.co.uk informs the user that there is a parking fine, also known as Penalty Charge Notices (PCN) and requests payment via an online payments service.
Northern Constabulary would like to advise the public that genuine parking tickets are never issued by email and always contain details of the vehicle and its registration number.
There is a company on the web trading under the name PenaltyChargeNotice.co.uk but this scam does not appear to be connected to them.
