Five times consecutive winner at show and sale of weaned calves
HALKIRK exhibitor Sandy Murdoch won the championship for the fifth year in a row yesterday at Aberdeen and Northern Marts show and sale of weaned calves at the Caithness Livestock Centre.
Mr Murdoch took the title with a six-month old Limousin cross heifer in the Quoybrae event, sponsored by haulier W.D.Cormack, of Castletown. His champion scaled at 353kg and was sold for £1,250 to judge Donnie Budge of Brae Edge, Castletown, on behalf of an undisclosed buyer.
During the show, Jane Cormack and son Stuart were presented with a Caithness slate plaque by centre manager John Bremner to mark the haulage firm's 20-year sponsorship of the show.
