Free Adult Education Classes starting at Ormlie this week:

Computing for Complete Beginners - Mondays 7.00pm - 8.30pm no need to book and classes free thanks to Highlife Highland funding. If you or someone you know isn't sure how to email, don't know what facebook's all about or want to find out more about microsoft office programmes then this is the place to come. Lessons very informal - no tests and classes run at a pace to suit each individual!

Come and Try Classes - Thursdays 9.30am - 11.30am - we aim to cover a wide range of practical and hobby type activities. Come along one morning and we might be trying to save money using online websites, another week we'll be making 2013 calendars, finishing craft projects that are lying around, reminiscing or finding out what facebook's all about. One things for sure we won't be bored. Come on give us a try!! They're free thanks to funding from Highlife Highland so what have you got to lose!!

Drop In Computing - Thrusdays 6.30pm - 7.30pm - come along if you need access to a computer, or the internet or even just a printer - drop in for the whole or part of our hour long computer session. We'll try out best to help if you're not sure what to do. Again the sessions are free.

All classes take place at Ormlie Centre, Henderson Street, Thurso. Please spread the word!

Sounds brilliant.

Pity you don`t do home visits.

Good luck with the projects.

Have you considered putting on adult literacy classes? You could integrate them with your classes on how to use Word.

Thanks both for your comments and support - its always good to get feedback - it helps when putting the next programme together.

My suggestion for "adult literacy" classes is to disguise them as classes in how to produce documents using Word. Producing good word-processed documents is a (slightly) different skill from producing good handwritten documents, so you can disguise literacy classes as word-processing classes. This would remove some of the stigma associated with literacy classes.
