A SENIOR police officer has warned that there will be no let up in the fight against drug traffickers in the Highlands.
Detective Chief Inspector Michael Sutherland was speaking after four dealers, who tried to flood the north with cannabis, were jailed for a total of seven years, at the High Court in Edinburgh.
He said: “This case is a yet another example of our commitment in tackling the supply of drugs to the Highlands and Islands. It puts out a message that whoever you are, wherever you are from, we will continue to proactively target those involved in the supply of drugs in the Northern Constabulary area.”
D.C. Sutherland underlined the importance of intelligence as being “the life blood of a successfully investigation” on which the police relied heavily, and urged the public to continue its support in disrupting the supply of drugs and arrest those bent on “causing untold harm to our communities.”
Undercover police officers saw one of the accused deliver a heavy blue bag to an address in Millerton View in Inverness on August 4, last year. The contents of the bag, 28lb of cannabis resin, had an estimated street value of more than £25,000. Police later found part of the haul stashed behind a wheelie bin at the house which as occupied by another of the accused.
