Four ways to win and Weir knows two of them

Cock-a-hoop Wick Academy got their own back on Rothes for last year’s away defeat, with a late goal show on Saturday.
The Scorries opened their account with a Gary Weir strike on half-time but it wasn’t until the 70th minute that they were able to add to it, Richard Macadie running on to a long through ball before netting.
Sam Mackay made it 3-0, three minutes later and the on-form Weir demonstrated he is deserving of a north up place, by knocking in a fourth, to compound Rothes’ misery and lift his side into third place in the league table.
Wick’s neighbours, Brora Rangers – dispatched from the north cup, 3-0 by the Harmsworth Parkers, were punished by Nairn County who administered a painful six of the best, without reply. Not the best of starts for former Wick manager, Davie Kirkwood, making his debut with his new club.
Academy have Fraserburgh at home, on Saturday, which will prove a good test for them in their league games before that crucial clash with Nairn County in the north cup final at Clach Park on October 20.
The black and white army is certain to be on the march for that one and Johnny Robertson is running a bus. You can book your 20 seat by contacting him on 07873 104386 or his landline on 01955 605041.
