My parents tell a story ...... they booked tickets to see Shirley Bassey in cabaret at a club in the 70s. My mum was a big shirley bassey fan and it was an expensive night out for them with two young children. When they got there they were told that Shirley Bassey had been taken ill and Max Bygraves would be doing the show instead. They were really disappointed and almost went home but decided to stay for the meal at least. When Max Bygraves appeared my dad said he was FANTASTIC - they laughed til they cried and had a BRILLIANT night.
