Does anyone know if signed copies of books by the author are more collectable and if that signature was made 60 years after the book was published, does it make any difference to the collectable value? cheers

If you've got a first anything, guard it with your life. & if the item is signed by it's creator (in this case, the author), irrespective of when it was signed, then guard it even more.

Ofcourse, the time when the signature was signed does matter to an extent, but it's a minor detail. eg. If I purchased a first edition Harry Potter novel & J.K. Rowling signed it the day it arrived on the shelf, you're talking top dollar. Now if I purchased a first edition Harry Potter novel & J.K. Rowling signed it 10, 20, 30+ years after it's release date, even though it's not worth top dollar, it's still worth serious dollars.

I hope this helps!
