Where I live - not Caithness - this is Breakfast Awareness week and at the local school this morning we were invited to bring in the infants to enjoy a free Healthy Breakfast together.
It was a very good turn out and many five and six year olds turned up with an adult to have breakfast.
We had cereal, a good selection of bread and rolls, butter and marmalade, fruit and fruit juice. The children tucked in eagerly and it was a joy to see them munching their way through a good healthy breakfast.
How important it is to start the day in such a way! The Headmistress told me that the children who dont eat before school are easily noticed as they are not able to concentrate after 10.30 . The ones who do eat, keep going till lunch time.
How easy it is to prepare a bowl of cereal and milk for a child each morning, finished off with an apple , surely this is Convenience Food at it's best.
