Occumster accused denies charges and will stand trial

A MIDDLE-aged man has been accused of threatening violence with a knife and a scythe in the Far North.
Donald Hirst, who lives in 5 Moray View Terrace, in the Caithness hamlet, of Occumster, pleaded not guilty when he appeared from custody at Wick Sheriff Court, yesterday.
One charge alleges that at a neighbour’s house - No 6 Moray View Terrace - on July 22, he made it known, while in possession of a knife, that he was going to cut Liam Sinclair’s throat. A further charge accuses Hirst (51) of shouting at Mr Sinclair in the terrace, on Sunday, that he was going to kill him and making the threat while brandishing a scythe.
Hirst was granted conditional bail and will return to court for his trial on October 30.
