FAR north patients in need of a full-body CT scan could soon be spared a 200 mile round trip. A proposal to buy and operate a £600,000 machine at Caithness General Hospital in Wick is going before health chiefs next week. NHS Highland came under fire two years ago after failing to buy a machine at a cost of £350,000. If approved this time round, the service could be available by the spring or summer of next year.

Thanks for alerting us, I might do a fundraiser just in case they are asked to do something warped like raise match funding for the scanner if not I can put the money towards cushions for the waiting area or similar

That's great news! :)
It's about time the 'those in charge' realised that as Wick and Thurso and the surrounding areas are expanding steadily, they will need far more comprehensive Heathcare, and having locals travel to Raigmore and back for what would be termed as 'routine' scans and examinations just isn't good enough.
Now if only they could get a fulltime paediatric unit up here......?
