Be on your guard for Phoneguard offer
Police are advising the public to be aware of individuals claiming to be from a company called Phoneguard.
The callers are contacting people in the Tain area offering a service which ironically promises to stop nuisance calls.
The company is telling householders/businesses that they have taken out £49 from their bank account to stop nuisance calls at an earlier date and now wish to check the card details.
One of the callers' names being given is Reno and telephone number 02036083300 is offered to the recipient of the call.
Police are advising people not to give out any bank details to anyone over the phone as not even banks will ask for this information. This appears to be a scam and Police would like to highlight it to the public.
